Men's Bible Study
"Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."
(2 Timothy 2:15 )
Sunday morning at 9AM in class room W-101 (behind the
sanctuary) at Houston
Northwest Baptist Church.
Monthly Fellowship Breakfast
For 7 years, we held a monthly breakfast to engage men in Christian
fellowship and make disciples. May, 2008 was the last of
these, as HNW staff has made it clear they do not actually want us
to continue. I've been taught at HNW that what a man says only
has meaning if it matches his actions; good words without
correlating actions are empty.
We've been told by HNW staff that we should continue the monthly
breakfast, but there has been next to nothing in the arena of
actions to validate this
occasional encouragement. I've asked for simple announcements to
included in
the Sunday School announcements and in the church bulletin when
space permits, once a month. If I do not ask for this each and every
month, we get no
announcement.
Another thing I learned a decade ago about men's ministry (which is
true about
any church-based ministry): it must be pastor supportive and pastor
supported.
We've struggled with this the entire time we've tried to make a go
of things.
It's self-deception for me to think we are a ministry any longer and
I'm not
willing to continue in this current environment.
